PSU Placemakers Exchange
I was asked to be a panelist and speak at the PSU Placemakers exchange that took place on May 20th. This annual interactive event brings students and community leaders together to have action-oriented discussions on evening vibrancy, "third spaces" for connection, grassroot placemaking projects, and more. The event explored how we can shape Portland State to build deeper connections, safety, and everyday joy.
It's a complicated issue due to PSU being fully integrated into the city of Portland. Many students treat the school as a commuter campus even though it has so much more to offer. How do you make an 18 hour neighborhood? How do you create interesting spaces that attract and keep students on campus? How do you create equitable spaces? These are just a few of the questions posed to the panelists and audience at the event.
It was a fantastic afternoon of idea exchanging.
